There are 170 accredited colleges with physician assistant programs in the United States.
Given that the U.S. Department of Labor notes that this medical career will grow 30 percent from 2010-2020, the amount of schools may increase in the near future.
States such as Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming do not have accredited PA programs.
Other states like New York and Pennsylvania have an abundance.
For example, there are 21 accredited physician assistant programs in New York, which has about 19.5 million people in the state.
Pennsylvania has 18 schools for PA degrees and 12.7 million people.
But there are only 9 PA programs in California, which has about 37.6 million people.
Lets take a look at the list of physician assistant programs, which is in alphabetical order by state.
